The 5DS, the purple oscillator plotted on both of our charts can be a powerful tool for identifying half cycles as well as trading cycles. Each trading cycle low and 1/2 cycle low is identified on the oscillator. Most trading cycle bottoms occur with a drop below 20, and most cycle tops occur with a rise in the oscillator above 90. The half cycle bottoms can occur as simply a small down wiggle, or a more substantial drop below the buyline at 20. By itself, the 5DS oscillator is too sensitive to identify the trading cycle bottoms, but combined with the 10DS, the two oscillators are a powerful tool for identifying not only the trading cycle bottoms, but also the 1/2 cycle bottoms as seen in the next chart.
