Even in this market which can be quite volatile at its seasonal tops and bottoms, the monthly chart follows the same patterns of higher swing highs and higher swing lows in an uptrend; and lower swing highs and lower swing lows in a downtrend. Oscillator analysis (the topic of another lesson) indicates that the recent swing bottom was probably the 3-year cycle bottom and prices should move higher in a series of higher swing highs and higher swing lows.
